DescriptionSkull with broad, flat comb; hole at apex; 2 restored nape lames; bevor and visor pivot at ears. Crude butterfly-shaped plume-holder (?) at nape of skull. Bevor secured with spring catch at lower R. Lining rivets around skull perimeter. 5 pairs of lacing-holes in the skull. Traces of lining leather or fabric (perhaps glued in place) at chin.
ProvenanceEdmund C. Converse collection purchased by John W. Higgins on November 26, 1927 from American Art Association (NY), lot no. 292. Given to the Museum on March 21, 1928. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
