On April 19, 1895, Massachusetts celebrated Patriot's Day for the first time. This view from the Salisbury estate shows people lined up along Grove Street near Central Church to participate in Worcester's celebration. The parade opened with a military march that began at the nearby Worcester Armory and featured a staged attack along Main Street by "rioters" who were eventually taken prisoner by the troops on the city common.
