DescriptionBead Necklace with lioness-head spacerLabel TextThis necklace is similar to a modern bolo-tie ornament in that it features a central, decorative element that joins one neck strand. The joining element in this adornment is a lioness’s head, while the beads are made of faience ring beads. An excavated example dating to Dynasty 18 features jasmine-blossom beads at the ends.ProvenanceFormerly of Mrs. Kingsmill Marrs Collection; bequeathed by Mrs. Kingsmill Marrs to the Worcester Art Museum, 1925–1926 as 1925.550, 1925.657, 1925.658 and 1926.112; transformed in 2001 through conservation work.
