DescriptionSingle strand of blue faience ball beads and spacers, glazed bright blue, spacers glazed light blue, creadm tan and black.Label TextBall-bead necklaces composed of uniform beads were often worn in multiples during the Middle Kingdom. The most prized were beads made of precious metal (gold, silver, or electrum) and colored hardstones such as carnelian, garnet, and amethyst. Less labor intensive but equally compelling were strands of blue-glazed faience beads. These beads would have been strung on one or more strands of linen thread and then tied at the back of the neck.
