Label TextThe so-called Boys' Festival was held on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar. On this day gaily decorated flags were hung up over houses where there were boy children. In more modern times huge paper carp were hung up. In this print a family group is shown beside the wall of a castle admiring the flags. The group consists of a husband, a wife and their two sons and a maid served holding an umbrella.
