Label TextThe Minamoto drove the Taira from their fortifications into the sea. The Minamoto general Kumagai Naozane is depicted mounted on a black horse, and is signaling with his war-fan to call back the young prince Taira no Atsumori, whom he then killed. Above on a steep hillside in the background, the Minamoto commander-in-chief, Yoshitsune is seen attended by his faithful henchman Benkei, and foot soldiers whose war-hats (jingasa) only appear above the crest.On View
