DescriptionPrint no. 62 of the series: "Famous Views of the Sixty-odd Provinces"
Label TextIn this view, a misty Mount Inasa rises above the port of Nagasaki, the best natural harbor on Kyushu Island. Between 1639 and 1859, Nagasaki was the only Japanese port open to foreign trade by the Dutch, Koreans, and Chinese. The sail in the foreground reminds the viewer of Nagasaki’s maritime history.
