Label TextAlbers began to experiment with geometric form while teaching at the Bauhaus during the 1920s. This is one from his series of woodcuts that explore simple shapes and illusions of dimension. A linear construction appears to float before a spatial matrix suggested by the woodblock grain. Albers always retained the ethical dimension of art, believing that heightened perception would bring a greater awareness of the world.ProvenanceJosef Albers Foundation, Inc., Orange, CTOn View
