DescriptionBlack-painted steel, with traces of red lead paint within. Preserves original coarsely woven fabric lining (canvas?) & buff leather attachment border sewn to perimeter. Fabric has been repaired and patched. Plate is high-waisted, with low medial ridge extending from just below neck to level waist flange. Proof mark on medial ridge at just above mid-height. Narrow, deep neck opening & deep arm openings. Pair of domed rivets on upper chest for shoulder straps & pair of "L"-shaped hooks at basal sides.ProvenanceArchduke Eugen's Armory, Fortress Hohenwerfen, Salzburg, Austria Purchased by John W.
