DescriptionBlack-painted steel, of proof, for cuirassiers. Slab sided & long, with squared medial rib full length. Deep arm & neck openings, the latter quite narrow, & all with outward flange. Perimeter pierced with lining holes. Proof mark just to left of medial rib at mid-height. Pair of flattish domed studs for shoulder straps, & "L"-shaped hooks at side below. Outturned basal flange, curving down towards rounded notch at fork.ProvenanceArchduke Eugen's Armory, Fortress Hohenwerfen, Salzburg, Austria Purchased by John W.
