DescriptionRusseted iron. Tall, rounded frame with swelling at top, fitted with a "D"-shaped, free suspension ring. Open, near-circular tread plate filled with iron strap in cusped, quatrefoil motif. Decoration limited to pairs of cut lines & "X"s.
ProvenanceGeorge L. Maxwell purchased by John W. Higgins on November 30, 1928 from Anderson Galleries (NY), lot 208. Given to the Museum on July 1, 1954. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, Janaury 2014.
