DescriptionDouble-edge wide steel blade with very deep central fuller on each face. Near shoulder, next to fuller, one face with deeply stamped mark filled with unidentified calligraphy. Green horn plaques riveted with raised steel bosses on same side as marked face of blade & tear-drop central boss with cross-hatching for koft-gari, now lost. Straight grip widening into inverted tulip-shaped terminal.
ProvenancePurchased by the Museum at the Morosini sale #3986 at the American Art Association (NYC), October 10-15, 1932, lot #39. Paid $5 for lot which included HAM# 1845.A, 1845.B and 1844. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
