DescriptionMultilame iron bowl of pronounced akoda-nari form. Spike headed rivets with rosettes; these are purely decorative, the structural rivets being flush (so technically this is a suji kabuto made to look like a hoshi kabuto). Eyebrow or horn motif embossed relief on peak. Peak has engraved brass edging on rim. 5 lame shikoro (nape defense). Brass mon and brass edging on fukigaeshi (wings). Brass tehen. Fabric lining still intact.ProvenancePurchased by John W. Higgins on January 24, 1930 from Mortimer J. Downing, Upper Stepney, CN. Given to the Museum on July 1, 1954.
