DescriptionMate to HAM #2440.3, & for right hand. Polished steel. "Gothic" form & of 6 riveted plates. With long, flaring pointed hinged cuff. Out-turned edge cut with spaced pairs of file marks. Each plate cusped at rivets & scalloped or bracket-cut at medial line embossed with radiating flutes. Face of cuff with 4 chevronic flutes. Knuckle-plate beaten-up into acute spikes. Plate above retains hinge of thumb defense, now detached & separate. All finger lames lost or detached; what may be some, are separately bagged with thumb.
ProvenancePurchased by Museum from American Art Association, Anderson Galleries (NYC), Macomber sale, December 10-12, 1936, (lot 473). Paid $25 for lot which included HAM#s 2440.1-6. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
