DescriptionSteel, for right hand. Very wide, flaring tubular cuff with slight medial ridge, & riveted closed along inside. Opening for hand with roped, inward turn, bordered by rivet holes. 7 overlapping metacarpal lames. Edges of lames 1-6 decorated with 2 parallel lines & cusp at center. 7th lame straight with raised, file-roped ridge at knuckles where form 4 deep scallops, each with hole near ridge. All lames secured with flat-headed rivets. Fingers lacking.
ProvenancePurchased by John W. Higgins on September 28, 1929 from estate of Bashford Dean (Riverdale, NY). Given to the Museum on January 8, 1947. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
