DescriptionSteel, for right hand. Wide tubular, one-piece cuff, riveted along inside. Additional patching plate riveted here. Slight medial ridge on exterior & turned roped edge. Etched panel decoration, each with narrow geometric border. Medial band with oval cartouche with figure holding castle turret (?), filled above & below with open scrolling vines. Medial band on all lames & around cuff. 8 overlapping metacarpal lames with brass-capped rivets. Terminal lame with raised, roped medial rib at knuckles; scalloped edge with steel fingers lacking. 2 modern screws & nuts hold set of lames to cuff.
ProvenancePurchased by John W. Higgins on October 15, 1929 from estate of Bashford Dean (Riverdale, NY), his no. misc. 80. Given to the Museum on January 8, 1947. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
