DescriptionIron bowl of conch shell form with deliberately antiqued surface. 5 lame shikoro (nape defense), covered with paper (?), textured to resemble brown leather. Lining and fabric chin strap intact. Horned, fanged, grotesque faced head emblem attached to front [unlocated, but perhaps this is 2014.694.21].ProvenancePurchased by Museum on October 21, 1935 from Yamanaka & Co. (NYC).
