Description2 piece wooden, curved sharpely for the blade, slit on inner curve reaching upper mount for forte of blade & sewn closed along reverse face. Covered in green-dyed leather, now much faded in parts. 2 iron oval mounts remain on each face. Each with round knob facing inner curve & traces of silver floral koft-gari (or perhaps niello). Substantial loss at lower end.
ProvenancePurchased by John W. Higgins on May 31, 1927 from Walpole Galleries (NY), their cat. no. 453, lot no. 342. Given to the Museum on July 1, 1954. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014
