This late-winter scene suggests the year-round work that went into maintaining the Salisbury estate. Behind the horse-drawn wagon can be seen a shed and large barn that stood along Institute Road, on the north side of the Salisbury House. The house to the left is one of several private residences that were constructed in the 1890s on the lot now occupied by the Worcester Art Museum.
