Label TextA Roman copy in the manner of the Greek sculptor Praxiteles, this head of Venus could have fit into either a seated or standing figure. Ribbons wrap around her hair and are tied beneath the large bun. The bun itself is carved from a separate piece of marble and joined to the head by iron dowels. ProvenanceRichard Norton, Rome Italy
