Label TextAs Civil Rights activist, Attorney General, and Senator, Robert F. Kennedy was a champion of American liberalism. He was a younger brother of President John F. Kennedy, in whose administration he served as United States’ Attorney General. Nine months after the President’s assassination he resigned to run for a New York Senate seat, to which he was elected. Here Kennedy is seen campaigning in the California presidential primary. After winning this contest, he delivered a brief speech at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, when he was shot by Sirhan Sirhan.ProvenanceOwned by David Davis 2003–2016 Gift to the Worcester Art Museum, March 2016
