DescriptionShort quadrangular thrusting spike arising from flat open socket with langets. Stepped, cusped, pierced, long slightly downturned fluke with reinforced point opposed by flat tall crescentic axehead drawn into pierced lobes above & below, with pointed ends, upper of which is reinforced. Wooden shaft of octagonal section, upper 1/5 of which is encased in velvet, secured by brass tacks with pair of tassels above & below. Fitted for a lost butt-cap.

Indistinct traces of punched decoration overall on head.
