DescriptionFormed from one piece of steel. Tall almond-shaped skull with stalk at apex. Sloping brim rises into peaks fore and aft, edges turned under. Faint roping seen along edge of brim. Base of rear of skull with rough studs; could be a remainder of a series of rivets to hold interior lining. Believed to be painted black to cover damage.
ProvenancePurchased by John W. Higgins on 11 December 1926, from Sumner Healey (NY). Price paid $15. Given to the Armory on 8 January 1947. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
