Label TextAs the Kennedy family walked to Saint Matthew’s cathedral during the President’s funeral, other mourners followed the caisson in a long line of black limousines. The mourners passed the Lincoln Memorial and crossed the Potomac River on the route to Arlington National Cemetery. So long was the line of dignitaries’ cars that the procession was at Arlington when the last vehicles left Saint Matthew’s. When they arrived at the cemetery burial services had already begun.
