Label TextWayman was among the dozens of photojournalists who visited the Capitol on Sunday, November 24, 1963, during President Kennedy’s lying-in-state. A seasoned professional, he got his first camera when he was twelve years old. He worked as a photographer during the war, attached to the Navy V-5. Wayman worked for the "Miami Herald" before joining the "Life" magazine staff in 1957. After serving as Moscow bureau chief in 1962, he stayed in Washington after Kennedy’s funeral, gaining distinction among the White House News Photographers Association.
