DescriptionScabbard for katana. 2-piece wooden core covered overall with small of mother-of-pearl adhered in a mosaic fashion. Single suspension ring on 1 face near mouth. Scabbard split for most of its length along seams.
ProvenancePurchased by John W. Higgins on May 31, 1927 from Walpole Galleries (NY), their cat. no. 453, lot no. 37. Given to the Armory on July 1, 1954. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
