DescriptionFor Yatagan 2014.372.1. Recurved wooden core covered in green velvet, with deep metal chape & drag at ends & decorated to match sword hilt. Single suspension ring fitted on 1 face at mouth of scabbard. There is a decayed organic material (leather?) running down the seam line of hte velvet.
ProvenancePurchased by the Museum at the Morosini sale #3986 at the American Art Association (NYC), October 10-15, 1932, lot #35. Paid $15 for lot which included HAM#s1843.1.A & B and 1843,2.A & B. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
