DescriptionCold-blued iron scabbard, brass-braised along cutting edge. Curved for blade & fitted with gilded brass mounts. Long tip with asymmetrical drag, pair of bands with suspension rings on top third of scabbard, & flared mount at mouth. Top suspension mount engraved with initials perhaps "J.D.P.B." in ornate upper-case script on obverse; reverse stamped "AMES MFG. CO./CHICOPEE/MASS" in capital block letters.
ProvenanceMacIntosh collection (#1); purchased by the Museum in December 1970. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
