DescriptionSteel. Circular, rising into a low dome at center having 4 bossets with lobed flanges. Center is chiseled & engraved (perhaps with some etching) with 8-sided medallion from which radiate palmettes & double palmettes. These have silver inlaid floral designs. Background chiseled & engraved with floral design of poppies(?). Outer registers with centrally organized petal design, scrolls & major register alternately with roundels & cartouches containing Persian inscriptions. There is considerable lost silver false-damascening all over the surface. Applied raised circular brass rim. Reverse with pierced "U" shaped loop at each bosset for attaching straps.
