Label TextMany different animals played a part in customary bullfights, or toros corridas, which took place all day on Monday. Younger, untested bulls were reserved for courageous amateurs from the audience. For safety, these bulls had rounded caps placed over their horns. The same animals were often featured during a comical intermission seen here, in which the honorable horses were replaced by awkward donkeys. At the bullring in Seville two teams of muleteros are still on hand, for the sake of tradition; one is meant to drag out the dead bull and the other to drag out any dead horses.ProvenanceCraddock and Barnard, London, UK
