Label TextThis image shows the bullfighter Gazul, the only named Moor in the series, masterfully spearing the bull on horseback. It is one of the most sophisticated prints in the series. Dressed in elegant clothing indicative of nobility, the figure echoes previous moments in the bullfighting timeline. For example, the lance used to stab the bull is positioned similarly in the first Iberian plate. Foils within the narrative, the light and dark values of the horse and bull are in opposition; likewise, the contours and tails of the two animals are nearly mirror reflections of each other.ProvenanceCraddock and Barnard, London, UK
