Description2-piece wooden core covered in faded yellow velvet (?) medially glued along back. Long decoratively cut & etched steel mount at mouth with identical drag; 4 circular cartouches to side of flat bar terminating in stylized flower. Each cartouche contains an animal (elephant, horse, ? & ?) surrounded by floral motifs filling spaces. Scalloped steel bands on edges connect the 2 mounts. Single oval suspension ring near mouth.ProvenancePurchased by the Museum at the Morosini sale #3986 at the American Art Association (NYC), October 10-15, 1932, lot #20. Paid $17.50 for lot which included HAM# 1841.A & B, 1842. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
